Messages of hope from the Holy Land
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, blesses the faithful with holy water on Palm Sunday.
In a land which is marked by division, conflict and hatred, Christians are a small minority. With no prospects for the present, and few for the future, many have given up hope altogether, and seek to leave the Holy Land for other countries.
During the Jubilee of Hope, ACN spoke to several leading figures in the Catholic community in the Holy Land and asked them how they struggle to take hope to their community.
Here’s what they had to say.
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
Fr Piotr Zelazko and Monika Faes, St James Vicariate for Hebrew-speaking Catholics.
Dima Khoury and George Hallis, Social Office of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Diane Bassir, teacher at the Al-Ahliya Christian school in Ramallah.
